Domaine Guiberteau Breze Saumur Blanc 2012

Made from pure Chenin Blanc grown on the calcareous soils around Brézé, Romain's Domaine Blanc is as lucid and fresh a white Loire as anyone could hope. The French call such wines vif or vivant meaning lively. If you think you 'know' Chenin Blanc, then this is a great wine to get in your glass. The Brézé terroir creates a far more citrussy, floral expression .....

Francois Chidaine Les Choisilles Montlouis 2014

“Some effusive minerality on the nose here, with a seam of tense, concentrated citrus fruits with the suggestion of some real, pithy depth to it underneath. The palate feels a little flat at the start, but soon livens up in the middle, showing a finely polished layer of white peach and herbs here. A supple and composed wine, with good grip in the finish. Very attractive.” 17/20 Points .....

Francois Chidaine Les Lys Montlouis 2009

95-96 Points The Wine Advocate

Chenin Blanc. Made exclusively from botrytised fruit and so it’s sweet (but not heavy). For Chidaine, the perfect conditions required to grow this style of Montlouis only come around once in a blue moon. The previous outing of the Les Lys – a wine made entirely from botrytised fruit – was in 2003, so this is only the second vintage we have managed to get our h .....

Francois Chidaine Les Tuffeaux Montlouis 2014

18/20 Points www.thewinedoctor.com

Off dry. 100% Chenin Blanc from a range of Chidaine's old Chenin plots - including the Clos du Volagray and Saint-Martin - sites that have stony soils, heavy in yellow limestone (or tuffeaux). These vines range in age from 30-90 years and in 2011 they cropped at a tiny 16 hectolitres per hectare on average. Always one of our favourite Chidaine wines, loaded with complex sarsaparilla, ginger an .....

Huet Le Clos Du Bourg Moelleux Vouvray 2007

"The declared residual sugar here is 44 g/l (it seems, looking at my older notes, to go down a little with every taste). An attractive, rich golden hue here. The nose is marked by smoky, minerally tones, with a lovely purity despite the sweet and fulsome nature of the white peach fruit that dominates. It feels fairly rich, poised, with some quite honeyed tones here, giving it a golden-apple f .....

Huet Le Haut Lieu Vouvray Moelleux 1993

18/20 points, Chris Kissack

"The wine now has a fabulously rich, burnished, orange-gold hue in the glass. The aromatics are classic for maturing Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, leading with notes of baked orange, apricot and almond, still with a pretty white flower nuance. There are elements of quince too, and crystalline ginger. Although the depth and aromatic profile suggests sweetness it doesn't suggest a huge carpet .....

Marc Bredif Vouvray 2014

"A bright, high-toned style, with ginger, white peach and green apple notes that race along, backed by a green fig accent on the finish. This shows good length and focus. Drink now through 2016. 2,000 cases imported."

Pichot Vouvray DEMI-Sec 'Peu de la Morriette' 2014

21 grams of residual sugar balanced by notable acidity. A perfumed nose of ripe pineapple. On the palate, it’s juicy with baked apple, spice, anise and hints of honey. The palate is generous and the wine is easy to drink with exceptional length and remarkable precision and balance.

Pichot Vouvray Moelleux 'Le Marigny' 2010

A gently sweet moelleux with residual sugar around 80 grams per litre making this a wine that will match with so many desserts rather than competing with them for sweetness. Also goes superbly with many rich cheeses having sufficient acidity. Drinking well now and will age effortlessly.

Pichot Vouvray Sec 'Coteau de la Biche' 2012

2009 is a classic vintage for dry Vouvray yielding wines of perfume, finesse and lip-smacking freshness. Aromas of pear candied fruit and spice with hints of honey and that distinctive chalkiness that is so typical of great Vouvray. Fine, brilliantly focused flavours with exceptional texture and length.
