Domaine-de-la-Mordoree Winery

The winemaker at the ecologically farmed Domaine de la Mordoree is 44 year old Christophe Delorme who has created an enormous reputation for his wines since creating the Domaine in 1986.

These are modern styled Rhône’s in the best sense of the phrase, combining brilliant low-yielding vineyards with traditional concrete tanks the influence of more modern influences such as French oak.

Tavel is the most famous quality Rose in the world, & Lirac is an appellation with which Australian red drinkers should have an affinity. The QPR (quality:price:ratio) from Lirac is hardly bettered elsewhere in the vinous world.

”It is unlikely anyone could find a better-run estate than Domaine de La Mordoree. With 135 acres spread out through some impressive appellations, bio-dynamic farming, and a commitment to excellence that is as serious as anyone I’ve ever met, Christophe Delorme and his team continue to produce extraordinary wines whether whites, rosés or their portfolio of serious red wines.” Robert Parker Jnr.

Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf du Pape La Plume du Peintre 2005

99 Points Wine Advocate

"Not that it is easy to find or afford, but if you have sufficient wealth, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape La Plume du Peintre (100% old vine Grenache from La Crau) is out of this world. It is much more accessible and opulent than the behemoth 2003, but is still so concentrated that it will evolve for 40+ years. It is a rare, rare jewel of Chateauneuf du Pape." 99+ Points Robert parker Jnr. .....

Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee De La Reine Des Bois' 2006

95+ Points Wine Advocate

"The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Reine des Bois is one of the few wines of the vintage to rival the estate’s 2007 counterpart. I suspect Mordoree’s 2007 will put on more weight, but they have made one of the singular wines of the vintage in 2006. Performing far greater from bottle than it did last year from barrel, the 2006 boasts a dense purple color as well as an amazing bouquet of .....

Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee De La Reine Des Bois' 2010

97 Points Wine Advocate

"The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reine des Bois is exquisite. It is hard to say that it’s better than some of its predecessors, because there have been so many magnificent wines to emerge from Domaine de la Mordoree since the mid-1990s, but this inky purple wine has an extraordinary nose of gun flint, wood smoke and blackberry jam intermixed with spring flowers, kirsch, and blueberries. St .....

Domaine de la Mordoree Lirac Rouge 'Cuvee De La Reine Des Bois' 2010

94 Points Wine Advocate

"Domaine de la Mordoree’s 2010 Lirac Cuvee de la Reine des Bois remains the reference point for the increasingly popular appellation of Tavel, which has seen an influx of Chateauneuf du Pape producers buying property. The sensational wine has more in common with many top Chateauneuf du Papes than one might expect. Its dense purple color is followed by lots of graphite, black fruits, pep .....

Domaine de la Mordoree Lirac, blanc Cuvee De La Reine Des Bois 2011

93 Points Wine Advocate

"The 2011 Lirac white, which is a blend of 30% Grenache blanc, 15% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 10% Picpoul and the rest Clairette and Bourboulenc, is a gorgeous wine, with beautiful notes of white peach, honeyed apricot, marmalade and spring flowers in a very perfumed, medium-bodied style with terrific precision, freshness and enough flowery notes to almost smell like a French perf .....

Domaine de la Mordorée Lirac, rouge 'La Dame Rousse' 2007

92 Points Wine Advocate

The outstanding 2007 Lirac La Dame Rousse, a blend of equal parts Syrah and Grenache, reveals a dense purple color as well as a gorgeous, sweet nose of creme de cassis, crushed rocks, violets, and licorice. This layered, full-bodied Lirac could easily pass for a Chateauneuf du Pape priced twice as high. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. "Winemaker and owner Christophe Delorme and his bro .....

Domaine de la Mordorée Rouge La Dame Rousse 2011

93 Points Wine Advocate

"The 2011 La Dame Rousse Tavel Rose, which is 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest equal parts Cinsault and the white grape Clairette. Full-bodied and substantial on the palate, with stunning notes of strawberry and kirsch intermixed with licorice, lavender and spring flowers, this is about as good a rose as one can find in the marketplace, but it is not for those looking for a somewhat innoc .....

Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel, rosé 'La Dame Rousse' 2009

91 Points Wine Advocat

"The 2009 Tavel La Dame Rousse rose (60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, and 10% Clairette) is a bigger effort displaying impressive notes of spring flowers, red and black currants, cherries, strawberries, and licorice. Aromatically, it reminds me of a red wine. In the mouth, it is medium to full-bodied with super fruit as well as a lush personality. To me, it is nearly the equivalent of t .....
