Gosset Winery

The Oldest Wine House in Champagne – Aÿ 1584
Established since 1584, Gosset is one of the smallest Grande Marque Champagne producers. Whilst the champagnes that they produce have never been plentiful in quantity, they have distinguished themselves with the consistently superb quality throughout the entire range of champagnes produced. Remaining a family owned house, the Gosset family sold the business to the Cointreau family nearly 20 years ago.

WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING

This wine travels so far beneath the radar it is incredible. It’s made in the same way as Krug (nose-bleedingly expensive Gangster Rapper Juice) – i.e. finished vintage wines are blended together to make a multi-vintage, not non-vintage wine. GGR is cultured, mellow, classy, rewarding and well under a quarter of the price! They also make the dinkiest half bottles with the same, sassy, curvy hips that the “full” bottle swings so well. Prices vary widely across Australia at the moment, so buy wisely and save the change for your next bottle.

Gosset Grand Millesime Champagne 2000

94 Points Nick Stock

"This is a powerful Champagne: really hedonistic ripe fruits on nose and palate, expressive and concentrated - striking. The nose has a flinty edge, with bright lemon and stone fruits, some peach, yellow nectarine and sweet brioche. The palate's bathed in stone-fruit flavours: plenty of ripe, yellow clingstone peach, nectarine and hints of mango. Smooth, rich, concentrated and guarantee .....

Gosset Grand Reserve Brut Champagne NV

94 Points Tyson Stezler

"One of the best non-vintage Champagnes around -I think of it as a kind of uber non-vintage. The complexity and richness is delivered with superb finesse and lively, fresh style, with brioche, lemon and fresh hazelnut, and some flinty chalk too. The palate's beautifully arranged, with composed citrus and stone-fruit flavours, bright, crunchy acidity and a smooth thread of savoury almond .....

Gosset Grand Rose Brut Champagne NV

94 Points Nick Stock

"Gosset's rose is in striking form - as are all their Champagnes - with bright, dried red flowers, red-cherry fruits, fine, musky notes and pink-grapefruit citrus - very, very fresh. The palate's quite assertive, flavour-filled and ripe: there's peach and papaya, and pink grapefruit here too. Very fresh, elemental and tangy." 94 Points Nick Stock, The Good Wine Guide
