The wine displays an intense golden-yellow hue and a lively stream of defined bubbles. Upon initial impression, the nose reveals aromas of freshly squeezed lime and some autolytic development. as the wine evolves, complex aromas of lightly toasted brioche coupled with raisins and candied fruit become apparent. The enticing aromas expressed on the nose are reinforced on the palate; boasting a powerful, rich structure, yet well-balanced with intensely flavourful notes of honey and citrus, lending a refreshing acidity. The finish shows a remarkable length, typical of the 2002 wines, as well as being both rich and full-bodied.

With its gold color and mature, toasty flavors, this is possibly the greatest Winston Churchill ever. It has weight and richness, with a dense, full and rich texture. It’s in perfect balance, bringing together maturity and crisper apple and green plum fruit flavors that are cut with lemon.   Fabulous aromas of dried apple, cream, mango and ginger follow through to a full, dense palate, but it’s very fine. The bead is so, so fine. The texture is like silk. Truly superb. I love the contrast between richness and freshness. It builds slowly on the palate and finishes so long and rich. This was 10 years on the lees. Mostly Pinot Noir.   The 2002 Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is wonderfully open, expressive and resonant. The richness of the vintage comes through nicely, yet the more overt elements are very nicely balanced by a good deal of freshness. Baked apple, pastry, candied lemon, dried flowers and warm, toasty notes shape the generous, resonant finish. With time in the glass, the 2002 takes a on a striking, vinous character.
