Product Description

"The 2009 Barolo Le Vigne shows class and pedigree with bright fruit tones carefully wrapped within the wine's elegant texture. The purity and the intensity of the wine are exceptional, especially when compared to other Barolos from this vintage. The bouquet is polished and long, with pristine accents of spice, licorice and anise seed. Made with fruit sourced from various parcels, this wine speaks with a strong and confident tone. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028."
95 Points Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate #207

"This is Sandrone's "traditional Barolo" in so far as it's a blend of several small parcels of vines. The fruit comes from four vineyards; Ceretta, Conterni, Merli and Vignane, and future vintages will include some fruit from Baudana, in Serralunga. These four sites are all markedly different in terms of altitude, soil and exposure and together they provide a general snapshot of Barolo in a given year. The 2009 is certainly a ripe, textural expression of Le Vigne with marvellous aromatics and layers of texture. Already it's expressing itself and yet the high altitude freshness and tannins, predominantly from the Ceretta and Conterni sites, obviously need time to integrate. All the elements for great Barolo is here, bar time. The highlighted sentence below (our underline) is particularly telling. Such is the quality of this Barolo today that it truly rivals this producer's legendary Cannubi Boschis. Ultimately though, it's not a race. The two wines offer very different and equally valid expressions of Barolo. Regardless, this is simply a great Le Vigne." - Importers Note
