750 mL Bottle
As always, this is a superb value from an excellent (declared) Port vintage. This wine is a remarkable example of the Noval style. Treated exactly like a Vintage Port with only noble grape varieties from the Quinta, trodden by foot and unfiltered. Its main difference is that it is aged for four, sometimes five years in wooden vats instead of the two years typical of Vintage Ports. Definitely an LBV with a difference, with fine structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit. It is delicious to drink today, but will age beautifully in its bottle. This wine is cut from the same cloth as previous releases; it's lushly textured with vibrant notes of cherries and blackcurrant and comes with a delicious figgy richness. Darkly potent, beautifully balanced with great acidity and a lingering, chocolaty finish, it's another release that effortlessly lives up to its reputation of being a 'baby Vintage Port'. In sum, this is a fantastic LBV that will impress even the most hardened Port aficionado. Ideally, serve this as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal. Please remember to pour carefully or decant, as there may be some deposit; this is unfiltered as with all the finest LBVs.
"Intensely peppery on nose and palate with swathes of sweet fresh and baked red and black fruits, dark chocolate and lovely florality going through - violets, like Brighton through a stick of rock - so 2007. Long and lingering. Just lovely persistence. Very good."
