Barratt Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2010
"Pale, bright straw-green; comes from 27-year-old estate vineyards, the juice wild yeast-fermented in a mix of new and used French barriques. It is a very elegant and finely detailed wine, easy to overlook in the company of fleshier wines, and totally at odds with its 14% alcohol."

Wine Maker's Notes
A relatively early vintage in good weather conditions. Fruit cropped at a low 1.3 tonnes per acre. Harvested from Uley Vineyard's 27 year-old vines on 27th February and 3rd March. Fermented principally with wild yeasts and completed with commercial yeasts in French oak barriques, 25% new. The wine underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation during a12-month barrel maturation. Bottled 30th August 2011. An elegant cool climate Chardonnay showing stone fruit and citrus characters complexed with oak derived toasty, spicy notes, all well integrated. The palate is full, rich, creamy and long and is beautifully balanced by fresh natural acidity.
