Product Description

"In Jungian psychology, Animus is the term used to describe "the masculine inner personality as present in women". As Pinot Noir is often described as a ' feminine' red grape variety then this release from Cambridge Road certainly doesn't fall short of its namesake. A bit of whole bunch action is evident here with dark primal fruit characters, black earth and forest floor mingled with seasoned wood and touches of wild animal. There’s lifted spices too, cinnamon, anise and bitter chocolate, dark cherries and more botanic scents of the forest. An overriding dark floral scent beguiles. Supple ripe tannins support the generous palate, which is both warm and cool. The lingering depth of flavour on the finish is astounding. Bottled unfined and unfiltered it truly reflects the essence of Martinborough. Very sexy Pinot!" Winemaker's Note

REVIEWS ON SOME PREVIOUS VINTAGES

Cambridge Road Animus Pinot Noir 2011
"Dark cherry red with soft ruby highlights. This is a fairly serious Pinot as the brooding label art suggests. We have been tracking the 2011 for a while before penning this note and it is changing all the time. Animus is more classically Martinborough than the estate version with dark fruit, dark chocolate, blood plum, mountain herbs and fragrant spice dominating the red fruit and floral notes. Even a hint of soy-like concentration. The palate is a little more light hearted with ripe red berry fruits, sugarplum and a little mulberry. Very silky texture and very even from start to finish. Very seductive."
