Product Description

Syrah is capable of delivering a wonderfully supple and sexy Gaillac wine when planted in the right sites. While the flavour profile of this red is more recognisable than the more obscure Prunelart and Duras, it remains Gaillac first and Syrah second. This is from a clay-limestone site and is cropped very low by regional standards. The winemaking is almost identical to the other reds. The fermentations are spontaneous and the wine is aged in cement tank for 1 year before being bottled without fining or filtration. Having been in Australia since late last year, this is now beginning to blossom into a lusty young red with a complex mesh of blackberry fruit, spice and pepper notes on the nose and a juicy, meaty palate. There is excellent freshness and the finish is round and long.
