Product Description

Dry. Chenin Blanc. Les Argiles (the clay soils) comes from several sites surrounding theClos Baudoin including l’Espagnole, le Haut Lieu, la Chatterie, l’Homme and la Reugnières. These sites are principally populated by 40-year old bush vines, grown on deep clay and chalk over a subsoil of limestone. The fruit is hand harvested with multiple passes through the vineyards and the wine spends 11 months on fine lees. Chidaine always vinifies this wine dry. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts and ageing is on lees in wooden barrels (demi-muids) of 600lt capacity for around six months. This 2012 is perfumed and blossom-scented with notes of honey, ginger spice, fresh apples, white peach with a bracingly crunchy, sea spray finish.  Terrific balance and texture.

** Producteur de trés grande qualité Le Classement 2013 (The highest rated producer in Montlouis)
“You have to look to the historical collections of regional leaders Foreau and Huet to find comparable consistently high quality, making it clear that Chidaine is one of the world's finest craftsmen in the medium of white wine, not to mention a continuing source of amazing value.”

David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate

“François Chidaine is one of my favorite winemakers in the world. There are times when I can imagine drinking only his wines for the rest of my life.” Peter Liem, peterliem.com
