Product Description

We got to have a look at this twice last year, firstly in the icy ramparts of Dive Boutaille in Brézé (Loire) and secondly in the warmer, more bucolic surroundings of Cahuzac-sur-Vère, in Gaillac. The variety Le Braucol is more commonly know in the South West of France as Fer Servadou (or Mansois in Marcillac) and at its best produces a highly aromatic, darkly hued wine with spicy plum, menthol and red fruit flavours. The Plageoles' 1.5ha Braucol vineyard is planted on clay and silica at a density of 5000 plants per ha (bush vines) and cropped at a very low 32-38 hl/ha. The wine is aged in cement tank for just 6 months before being bottled without fining or filtration. Back to those notes; 1) Pure-fruited, aromatic and bright with a gluggable, juicy texture. 2) Leaps out the glass. 3) Vibrant, flavourful, cool and tangy. 4) Snappy close with fine, powdery tannin.
