Product Description

Soft cherry red with a faint crimson youthful hue. Minimal filtration evident in the softness of colour. About 15% whole bunches used on average with around 30% aged in old barriques. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered. We are aiming for the texture, savoury layers and structure of a good Bourgogne Rouge. Bottled in late December 2012, this is already looking settled a few  weeks later. Bright nose with cooler rhubarb and green herbs sitting atop riper raspberry and red cherry fruits. Pink and red florals, and delicate fruit spice too. With time in the glass herbal notes become more dried leaf/dried mint with fruit depth becoming obvious. Medium to light but nice silky texture from minimal filtration. Tart rhubarb and raspberry fruits again sit out from the sweeter red cherry and floral flavours. Plenty of acidity drives a real freshness. Soft grainy tannins, mainly from the whole bunches, add some structure around which the wine will evolve nicely. This will ‘sweeten' nicely with time in bottle.
