"100 per cent Pinot Noir. From 3ha of mature Pinot plots (30-70 years) in Côte de la Ronce and Haut de la Ronce. These vineyards are planted on slopes of Kimmeridgian limestone mixed with red clays. Macerated and fermented in open wood fermenters before being transferred to 300 litre Burgundian barrels, 30 per cent new, the remainder 1-3 years old, for a further 12 months. We have previously noted that well-grown Côtes d'Auxerre shares a brightness and energy that can remind of the Loire or the Jura. That's very much the case with this graceful, musk-fruited 2010. With a touch more tang and purity than the superb 2009 bottling, we were immediately seduced by the wine's clarity and crunchy, redcurrant, blue berry, musk and earth aromas and flavours. The palate is racy and fresh with fine-grained tannins giving grip to the clinging, brightly perfumed finish. A truly enjoyable and engaging Pinot that tends to disappear very quickly." - Importer's Notes
