In vintage that offer very good early appeal, I often fine that Vergers and Chenevottes are the two most seductive premier crus out of the blocks in the village of Chassagne, and both of these cuvées are irresistible chez Fontaine in 2017.The Vergers delivers a superb bouquet of pear, apple, chalky soil tones, a touch of crème patissière, fruit blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, juicy and complex, with a fine core of fruit, excellent cut and grip and a long, zesty and beautifully balanced finish. This is flat out delicious.
