100% estate-grown, single-vineyard Chardonnay from a mix of two terroirs: grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel. 100% biodynamic, certified. Fruit is hand picked and sorted by hand on our vibrating table. Wild yeast ferment, 8-10 months in in new & old French oak barrels. Steve and Monique Lubiana view this as the most layered & complex of the three Chardonnays they make. The ‘Estate’ is a classic example of a robust but beautifully balanced cool-climate wine. It has all the elements of a great Chardonnay present - fruit, oak, acid, creamy texture & complexity, but no element overpowers the other. A wonderful wine to enjoy now, or watch it grow and develop over the years in the bottle.Winemaker's Note
White peach, dusty and spicy, lick of vanilla, almost peppery. Light and tight, but firm flavour here, white fruits, smoky sulphide, chalky texture, just a little green to trim it up and add colour, and a long pure finish. Excellent, vital Chardonnay. 95 Points The Wine Front

Stefano Lubiana Estate Chardonnay 2010
"On its release, our 2010 Estate Chardonnay displays some lovely intense minerality, but with its vibrant citrus fruit characters and stylish French oak nuances very much to the fore. The palate is well - ripened and supple, yet deliberately held in check by fine oak tannins and lingering natural acidity. Stylistically, it looks to urope rather than the ‘big island’ to our north for inspiration.
Monique and I can think of few things better than opening a good Chardonnay and sharing it with friends and family. Ready for current enjoyment, there’s no doubt this wine’s better days are still ahead of it. It should also continue to improve in the bottle until 2015 or so.
If you’re dining casually, Th ai fish cakes will sit omfortably ith it. Hunter - gatherers will want to grab their wetsuits and try their luck latching onto some big crabs or a majestic rock lobster." Winemaker's Note
