Naked's Shiraz component comes from the same black and red, clay McLaren Vale vineyards as the 'Passion' but includes a higher proportion of fruit from older, gnarled vines. The yields are kept low, the quality high. The Mataro comes from a light, free-draining site in the lower reaches of the Vale (in the McLaren Flat area), where the vine age is 10-30 years. Picked in the cool of the night, fruit for the 2019 was de-stemmed and crushed then fermented at cooler temperatures with a total of just seven days on skins. The wine was pressed and rested in a mix of stainless and neutral oak (90/10) for ten months. Both parcels were kept separate for fermentation and maturation.
