Product Description

rom three separate, tiny parcels from above and below the Freycinet Peninsula on the East Coast, in what was an unbelievably low-yielding vintage in this area. One parcel went 50% whole-bunch for spice and earth, the others were de-stemmed and gently hung out on skins for about 8 days before heading to barrel to finish. The wine was assembled pretty early - October from memory - and then rested again until being racked again and bottled in December in-house, no filtration. Small production, delicious crunchy little wine, perhaps a little finer than previous vintages.

This is a blend of Biceno and Cranbrook and sits in a very seductive, blue-fruit zone with aromas of blueberries, plums and violet flowers. Some attractive, background oak spice and a hint of white pepper, too. Nicely integrated. The palate has an instant impression of silky tannin and a fresh delivery of succulent, smooth dark cherries and blueberries. The tannins fan out on the finish, flicking the tail in seductive style. Drink over the next eight years. Screw cap. 94 points James Suckling
