Domaine la Remejeanne
In the southern Ardèche, Rémy Klein's hillside vineyards, unusually rich in clay, limestone and sand, nestle in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains amongst patches of scented scrub and wild flowers. From this place Rémy grows no less than six, small batch, organic Côtes du Rhône from differing parcels – each is distinctive; brimming with colour, perfume, fresh fruit and individual, site related character. Meanwhile, Domaine de Marcoux's Côtes du Rhône 2011 comes from just two hectares of biodynamically run vineyards on the edge of Châteauneuf itself – so a very different terroir - and this year includes a healthy slug of fruit from the Armenier sisters’ biodynamic Lirac vineyards. Last but not least we offer this benchmark producer’s outstanding Lirac.
WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING
"With a remarkable love of a job well done, Rémy Klein has shown over many years the potential of the terroir on the left bank of the Rhône."
Bettane & Desseauve, Le Grand Guide des Vins de France, 2009
“Klein laughingly dismisses the suggestion that he adheres to a winemaking philosophy. It occurs to me that this makes him, perhaps, the best kind of winemaker: committed, yet completely open-minded.”
Beverley Blanning MW, Decanter
